Eligibility
Will I need to have a medical examination?
You need to complete a medical questionnaire. On occasions, our medical consultant can define partial exclusions, total exclusions or propose an additional premium to waive exclusions. For group plans with compulsory affiliation (more than 5 employees), the medical questionnaire is waived.
Is there an age limit for enrolment?
Anyone aged 18 to 60 can apply for expatplus. Above age 60, you cannot enrol into the plan. However, if you are enrolled in your company’s compulsory plan, there is no age limit.
What if I need to cancel my policy?
Send a registered letter at least one month before the renewal date of the policy. For group contracts, the cancellation period can be different. Please contact us.
What is the minimum insurance period?
The minimum duration of our plans is fixed at 3 months.
What happens when I return to my home country?
When you return to your permanent country of residence, cover will end shortly after. Once home, you will have enough time to apply for other insurance. An additional three-month period can be requested.
As from when will I be covered?
You are covered from the day of approval by our medical consultant. Confirmation of cover is subject to the receipt of your premium.
Is my plan automatically renewed?
Yes. Your policy will be renewed by tacit agreement for successive periods of 3 months each, unless otherwise agreed.
Can my family members also be covered?
Yes. Your spouse, partner and children can be enrolled at any time. Your dependent children can be covered as from birth up to age 26.

Are infertility treatments covered?
Yes. Our Universe plan covers expenses (outpatient or inpatient) related to infertility treatment. Certain conditions may apply.Do I need to wait to get certain treatments?
Waiting periods for medical expenses are as follows:- Pregnancy and childbirth: 10 months
- Orthodontic treatment and dental prostheses: 12 months
- Infertility treatment and sterilisation: 12 months
Am I covered for prior illnesses or injuries?
Upon acceptance into expatplus, all your medical expenses for pre-existing conditions will be covered subject to the terms of your policy. Before acceptance, the medical consultant can define partial or total exclusions of cover, or propose an additional premium to waive exclusions.Are pre-existing chronic conditions covered?
Upon acceptance into expatplus, all your medical expenses for chronic conditions will be covered subject to the terms of your policy. The deductible is the (first) part of the covered outpatient expenses that is not reimbursed by expatplus. It is a fixed amount per year per person of covered outpatient expenses for which you are responsible. Once your annual deductible has been met, your expenses will be reimbursed according to the conditions of your plan.Are complementary therapies covered?
expatplus covers a wide range of complementary therapies as standard, including homeopathy, osteopathy, physiotherapy, chiropractic and acupuncture.Am I covered if I travel to another country?
Yes. You can choose to be covered worldwide, or worldwide excluding the USA and Canada. If you take the latter option, your cover in the USA and Canada is restricted to accident and emergency treatment during a temporary stay of 90 consecutive days at the most.Can I get treatment in any hospital?
Yes. Our plan allows you to receive treatment in the hospital of your choice, anywhere in the world.Is preventive care covered?
Yes, preventive care is covered and includes well baby care, vaccinations (adults and children): per insurance year, one adult physical examination, one eye exam, one (bilateral) mammogram (females age 35+), one Pap smear test (females age 35+), one PSA test (males age 50+) are included.What if I am injured due to war or terrorism?
In case you are a victim of war or terrorism, you are covered (within the limits and ceilings of the cover), as long as you did not actively participate in those operations. If you are in an area publicly known to be in state of (civil) war, only medical and dental expenses are covered. Please refer to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) travel advisory list (www.fco.gov.uk).Are any age limits applicable for benefits?
There are no age limits for medical, accidental death and invalidity benefits. For evacuation expenses, the max. age is 75 years. Temporary incapacity and permanent disability benefits will be paid until the insured person reaches the age of 65.
